The Foundation is registered with and recognized by the Malaysian authority as a charitable organization formed to promote and advance Science and Technology in Malaysia.

Annual MTSF Awards and Grants

(A) MTSF Science & Technology Award
For outstanding Malaysian scientists/researchers who have made major scientific discovery(ies), important invention(s) or successfully solved major technological problem(s) which have contributed to the enhancement of scientific knowledge.
•Two (2) cash awards of RM30,000 each.

(B) MTSF Science & Technology Research Grant
For Malaysian researchers below 40 years of age, engaged in basic/fundamental scientific research at a recognized research facility in Malaysia.
• 5 to 10 research grants of up to RM60,000 each, totaling RM300,000 (including 3 to 5 grants offered by Toray Science Foundation, Japan, totaling Yen 5 million).

(C) MTSF Science Education Award
For Malaysian science teachers and educators for creative science teaching at secondary/technical schools, educational centers and Pre-University colleges.
• 15 prizes ranging from RM2,000 to RM10,000 each, totaling RM60,000.

Scale of Operations
The annual budget of MTSF is approximately RM600,000, financed by operating income from the MTSF endowment fund and contributions from Toray Science Foundation , Japan and TORAY MALAYSIA GROUP.
